5 Principles of RATT

1) Bridge/Connect

2) Capture/Control

3) Twist/Lock

4) Takedown/Throw

5) Choke/Knockout

Bridge/Connect

This first concept is to establish the distance between yourself and attacker/opponent. Close distance using RATT principles as quickly and effectively as possible. Connect mentally as well as physically, and move into the attacker/opponent's space.

Capture/Control

Capture, grab, link to attacker/oponent and gain the upper hand by bridge/connect preceding principle. Begin to apply a controlling maneuver to direct attacker, one might employ some pressure point attacks to stun or weaken the aggressor, thinking ahead to attempting a lock or joint manipulation to reduce the threat, and continue to control opponent/attacker.

Twist/Lock

Takedown/Throw

Choke(Vascular neck restraint)/Knockout

More to come - Still under construction
